Debra : Ounces and quarts problem

A restaurant serves 8 fluid ounces of soup to each customer. How many quarts of soup should be prepared in order to serve 185 customers?

Solution

If 1 customer need 8 fluid ounces, 185 customers will need 8 * 185 ounces.

8 * 185 = 1480

185 customers will need 1480 ounces.

Now just convert 1480 ounces to quart.

1 quart = 32 ounces

Just divide 1480 by 32 ounces to get the number of quarts

1480 / 32 = 46.25

185 customers will need 46.25 quarts
