0 added to any number gives you the same number 

1 added to any number x is just going to give you the next number after x

1 added to any number gives you an odd number.

5 + 4 is the same as 6 + 3  ( Just add 1 to 5 and subtract 1 from 4)

Even number added to an even number always result in an even number.
