Compare fractions calculator

This compare fractions calculator will help you compare two fractions to determine which of the two fractions is the smallest.

Important things to keep in mind when comparing fractions:

When the denominator is the same, the bigger fraction is the fraction with the bigger numerator.

For example, 4/3 is bigger than 2/3

When the numerator is the same, the bigger fraction is the one with the smaller denominator.

For example, 6/2 is bigger than 6/3

If the numerators or the denominators are not the same, just look for equivalent fractions with the same denominator. Then, compare the numerators

For example, compare 3/4 and 2/3

An equivalent fraction for 3/4 is 9/12

An equivalent fraction for 2/3 that has a denominator of 12 is 8/12

Since 8/12 is smaller 9/12, 2/3 is smaller than 3/4
